Who we are
Inspired by the work of Dr Wallace J. Nichols, Mara Adhbhar CIC explores the idea of Blue Mind — the calm, connected state associated with water. Gaelic for Sea and Purpose, we are inpsired by the sea and driven by purpose.
Our purpose is simple: to begin bringing the Blue Mind Movement into a Scottish context, through leadership, reflection, storytelling, and shared awareness.
We explore the positive impact of water on our mental health, wellbeing, and sense of connection. Being near, in, on, or even thinking about water can help us feel calmer, clearer, and more connected — to ourselves, to others, and to the natural world.
We are creating a space to explore what Blue Mind might mean within Scotland’s landscapes, cultures, and everyday lives.
It is a place for awareness, reflection, and shared understanding — a starting point for conversation, curiosity, and connection.
Scotland is shaped by water.
This is an invitation to remember that relationship.
Introducing Our Founder — Evonne Boyd
Rooted in a lifelong connection to water, this work is driven by lived Blue Mind — and a belief that Scotland’s blue spaces matter deeply to how we live and feel.
Evonne Boyd is a mum, a wife, and a lifelong lover of the sea, oceans and blue spaces. This project grows from personal experience, curiosity, and a desire to see our relationship with water better understood, valued, and shared.
