Introducing Our Founder — Evonne Boyd

“People protect what they love.” Jacques-Yves Cousteau

Evonne is the founder of Mara Adhbhar CIC and a leadership coach and mentor working with charities, social enterprises and public sector organisations across Scotland.

With over 25 years of leadership experience in the public sector, alongside involvement in community and charity governance, she brings both strategic insight and lived understanding to her work.

Her background includes senior public sector leadership roles, chairing community groups, and holding director level positions within the charity sector. This breadth of experience enables her to work confidently across complex systems, governance environments and partnership landscapes - supporting leaders who balance accountability, values and impact every day.

Evonne is also a freelance journalist and enjoys writing, skills which shape her coaching practice through deep listening, careful questioning and a strong sense of narrative and meaning. Her approach is relational, reflective and values‑led, creating space for clarity, resilience and thoughtful leadership in demanding contexts.

A lover of all blue spaces, Evonne draws inspiration from the sea as a place of depth, perspective and calm. She is a PADI Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver, with specialities in enriched air (nitrox), wreck diving and deep diving - experiences that subtly inform her appreciation of preparation, presence and trust in challenging environments.

Evonne is committed to strengthening leadership that serves the long term, supporting those who work for the public good to lead with confidence, care and purpose.

Rooted in a lifelong connection to water, this work is driven by lived Blue Mind — and a belief that Scotland’s blue spaces matter deeply to how we live and feel.

Evonne is a mum, a wife, and a dog lover! She loves green spaces too.
